Re: Hairdresser for short, thick Asian hair
Hi, My hair person, Alyssa, at Panache Spa on Shattuck & Cedar is GREAT! I have short, straight Asian hair--she gives me the cutest cuts! My 18 year old daughter goes to her too. She's a transplant from SoCal (finance at Cal). I highly recommend her. Her number: 841.5555. Karen

Re: Hair and color expert for thick hair
I highly recommend my hair stylist at Panache on College 843-3255 my stylists name is Leana. She does a wonderful job on my sort of curly/frizzy thick hair. Have tried several stylists from high end places to mid and by far have gotten the best service and results with Leana. She is very meticulous and listens to what I want. In addition I just recently took my young daughter who has very thick long hair (and dreads getting her hair trimmed b/c she has had some hairstylists that were not gentle). After her shampoo and trim she exclaimed ''I want to go there again!!'' (to the 'beauty parlor') (after having to convince her to go!)--and I didn't pay the same fee as for an adult cut. curly girl

Re: Need a skilled stylist that has reasonable prices
I have some gray hair that I like to color, however I had a heck of a time finding a colorist/stylist who could do a quality job and get it so my hair looked beautiful and natural and that the results were consistent, not one dimensional. I lucked out when I found Leana McShane at Panache on College in Berkeley. I have been going to her now for about 2 years and now my sister and mom do as well! She is just wonderful, she takes her time, has the experience that shows in her work, and her prices are very reasonable and she works Sundays!!!! (I work full time so this great). She does a wonderful job of stylying and cutting as well,I like to also get the conditioning treatments sometimes too, and oh did I mention her massage! Anyways, her number is 510-843-3255, she works Mondays, Sundays and (I think ) Tuesday and will be adding Saturdays starting Feb. (she's a local mom too!) No gray for me not yet!

Re: Stylist for Asian hair in Berkeley/Albany
I used to be a hairstylist in a large salon near the UC so I got to watch all of the stylists work. One of the most talented stylists I have ever seen, particularly with haircutting is Myong. She works at Panache on College now 843-3255. I have 4 hairdressers in my family and they used to be the only ones to touch my hair. Now Myong is the only person I will let touch my hair. When you meet her for the first time bring a photo. After she gets to know you she will just know what to do. Joni
Re: Reasonably priced cut & color (Mar 2005)
My stylist is not cheap, but I think she is reasonably priced and she does a very good job (she cuts and has colored and highlighted my hair). Haircuts cost 45 and color I believe is 60. Her name is Leana Mendenhall and she is at Panache on College. 843-3255. Liz O.

Re: Cheap Haircut (Aug 2004)
I know this doesn't directly address what you are seeking -- great haircut for $15/$25 -- but I thought I'd post my recommendation anyway just in case you had no luck finding someone in your range. I cannot recommend more highly Susanne (pronounced Susannah) Adler, who works out of Panache on College Avenue [2928 College; Berkeley Ph: (510) 843-3255.] I have been to many hairstylists/colorists over the years and she is absolutely, by far, the best. Incredible cuts that last and grow out nicely. She's also a talented and creative colorist. I think her cut is around $35/40 -- color [for hours of tedious highlighting...!]around (?) $60/$70. jillsters
Re: Post-partum Style Disaster (April 2004)
I went to Panache on College and Yossi (or Yoshi?) gave me a great new cut without changing my look dramatically, and best yet, its wash and wear. He has a young child as well so he was sympathetic to my needs.
Re: Hair stylist for cut and color (July 2003)
I highly recommend Suzanna Higgins at Panache on College Avenue (next to Papyrus on the block north of Ashby). I have been going to her for over 5 years, and she has been cutting my husband's hair for 6. She initially saved me from a disastrous haircut from someone else, and she has earned my total trust (I will pick up a magazine, give her the parameters of what I want (i.e., ''chop it off'' or ''just take a little'' -- at this point, she picks the style and color for me) and I don't feel a need to look up until she's done. She does a fantastic cut as well as color. She's also very sweet as a person and it is always delight to spend an hour or so in her chair. Her prices are moderate (I confuse her price since I give her a substantial tip -- but I think a cut is around $30 or $35). The phone # is 843-3255 Christine
Re: stylist who does a great job cutting short hair? (May 2003)
I'm so glad you asked! I'm always happy to recommend our stylist at Panache on College (2928 College Ave, Berkeley, 510- 843-3255), Susanna. I have short hair and she is the best stylist I've found, also does great color and other hair lengths as well. She is completely fabulous and you'll never want to go to anyone else! I think her prices are very reasonable, like $35 for a haircut, etc. Just let her know that we sent you. Amanda and Laura
